Eight Miles of Heaven

Keven and I made an attempt to visit Eleven Mile Canyon earlier in the summer per the recommendation of our neighbor, but we missed our turn and ended up driving a long dirt road that eventually joined up to Eleven Mile Reservoir. And for the life of us we just couldn't figure out why our neighbor said the drive was 'so pretty' because really? It wasn't. AT ALL. When my brother and his wife were in town about a month ago, I suggested that we check out Eleven Mile Canyon since it's fairly close to home and easy to get to, and well that time our trip was a success. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. So beautiful that I could have stayed there all day. And all night. I love nature, I can't help it. The sound of flowing water, tumbling over rocks. The sounds of birds flying overhead. The warm sun beating down on my face and the top of my head. Me and nature, we have a bond. This past Sunday Keven, the kids and I packed into the car and headed west again to drive through Eleven Mile Canyon. You know, since I knew where it was this time and because Keven didn't get to go when my brother was in town. And it probably didn't help at all that I've continually talked about how pretty it was since that day, and well, he wanted to see it for himself. We've also been contemplating a camping trip before the fall / winter sets in and we wanted to scout out possible campsites. So. Here are some photos that I took the original day I visited, and then some from Sunday. It's a photographers dream, so you just KNOW I was in heaven. FOR REAL. ENJOY!

So now do you understand why I've dubbed Eleven Mile Canyon as 'eight miles of heaven'?
