Keven Jr. celebrated his 100th day of school yesterday, so obviously he's moving right along and is officially a school-ager now. He's adjusted, he's become comfortable and he seems to be learning at a rapid pace. And quite possibly because of this confidence he's embraced since he's a student now, he's outgrown his britches. You all know how that saying goes, right?
Let me tell you a little story.
Every single day so far this year, I've packed Keven Jr. a sack lunch to take with him to school. Not a single day so far this year has he asked for a 'hot lunch'. He's been content with what I've made for him, and not complained one bit.
Until this morning.
He wanted a hot lunch today for some reason and I, being his mother, came up short in the wallet department. The wallet was empty. I explained to him that today I wasn't prepared to give him money for a hot lunch as he had requested, so the cold lunch I had made would have to do.
He wasn't happy with my answer.
He moaned and groaned. He told me that cold lunches were for babies and that he wasn't a baby and that he wanted a hot lunch. He pouted. He wouldn't put his shoes and jacket on so that we could leave for the bus stop because I wouldn't let him have a hot lunch. He pulled out all the stops and finally I convinced him that today just wasn't a good day since I wasn't prepared, and that tomorrow would be better. I promised him that he could have a hot lunch on Friday, and he seemed content with that.
I finally got both boys loaded up in the car and off to the bus stop we went. We were there with several minutes to spare and while we were waiting together in the car out of the blue Keven Jr. said to me "You know Mom. You could have just taken money out of my piggy bank so that I could have had a hot lunch today.
You aren't so smart, are you?"
Oh boy. Those britches I think just popped a button.
