The year 2010; First Day of School

What excited me most, from what I can remember, about the time of the year otherwise known as 'back to school' was the new school supplies, the new shoes, the new additions to my wardrobe. Not to mention finding out who my teacher(s) were and seeing friends again! I always wore one of my newest outfits on the first day, hair was prim and proper and chances are I had new shoes on to boot.
I wish I could say the same for my kiddos.
We returned from vacation on the last weekend before school started. We picked up all of the necessary school supplies as soon as we could while we were out on a grocery run. And then we pulled out their backpacks from last year and dusted them off so we could divide up what belonged to who. There were a few supplies that we had to shop elsewhere for so once they were picked up they went into the book bag along with everything else. And then we waited with anticipation for their first day to arrive.
Well, I waited with anticipation. The kids didn't seem to be phased at all that summer was coming to an end. They didn't seem to care at all either that no new clothes and shoes were purchased. I mean goodness, they didn't even get hair cuts!
I'm happy to say that even with all the worrying I did and the wondering I did while they were away attending their first day of school, that the first day went off without a hitch. Isaac had a great day and was so happy to tell me when he found me waiting for him outside his classroom after the bell ran. Keven Jr. had a good day too, even though he said it was 'pretty much like first grade' and trust me, his statement was not filled with half as much enthusiasm as his brothers. Both kids seem to like their teachers and they both had familiar faces in their classes that I'm almost certain made the day go much smoother. We are now three days in and well, here's to a wonderful school year.

Double trouble if I do say so myself.
